(08/15/05) - Vanderveen Joins Great Lakes Home & Resort as Chief Operating Officer
Holland, Michigan . . .Great Lakes Home & Resort, a leading manufacturer of hot tubs, pool tables, saunas and casual furniture, announced today the appointment of Steve Vanderveen to the new position of Chief Operating Officer.
Vanderveen will oversee all manufacturing activities at Great Lakes facilities in Michigan, Minnesota and West Virginia. He will focus on implementing lean manufacturing processes, designed to improve production efficiencies, while achieving build-to-demand product flow.
Vanderveens career spans 25 years in product engineering and manufacturing in Tier 1 and Fortune 500 environments. He began his career with Prince Manufacturing, now JCI Corporation, in the early 1980s, where his responsibilities ranged from Director on Interior Systems to manager of the Chrysler account. He then joined Herman Miller in 1998 as a Director of Product Engineering and General Manager of the companys Zeeland, Michigan manufacturing facility. In 2001, Vanderveen founded Riverstone Technologies, manufacturer of powder on wood products, which he later sold.
Vanderveen received his degree in Industry Engineering from Western Michigan University and his MBA from Purdue University. His lives in Holland with his wife and 4 children.
